Dr. Davis has also served as Director, Innovation, Nutrition & Claims at The Dannon Company, Inc., Principal Research Scientist at Wyeth Nutrition and was on the faculty of the Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise Department at Virginia Tech, where she developed and directed the grant-funded Molecular Nutrition Laboratory.
She has expertise in incorporating nutrition into business strategy, designing clinical trials in support of claims, developing scientific substantiation dossiers for health claims in the US and EU and translating science into competitive product positioning opportunities internationally. Barbara received a PhD in Nutrition with an emphasis on nutrient-gene interactions from the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department at the University of Florida.

During his 5 year tenure at InterHealth, Dr. Lugo has overseen and participated in the publication of 7 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including one of the first clinical studies carried out in healthy subjects for joint health. Dr. Lugo has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Brooklyn College, a Ph.D. in Immunology from MIT, and an MBA from the University of California (Los Angeles).

Jason W. Cooley received his PhD from Arizona State University (2001) working on the biochemistry of cellular energetics and metabolism. Subsequently while at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Cooley received awards from the National Institute of Health and the American Heart Association for his research investigating the role of cellular respiration in diseases and as potential drug targets.
As a faculty member at the University of Missouri in 2006, Dr. Cooley carried out fundamental research related to Alzheimer’s disease, while teaching bioanalytical and biochemistry courses. Dr. Cooley recently returned home to Southern California to lead the scientific efforts of BioCell technology LLC, the premier collagen based dietary supplement manufacturer.
Jennifer Murphy MS RD LDN

Jennifer Murphy is a Manager of R&D in the Technology and Product Innovation group at GNC, where she drives early stage discovery and scientific evaluation of new ingredients and technologies. Jennifer completed her MS in Nutrition at the University of Pittsburgh and is a Registered Dietitian. She has strong interests in Integrative Medicine and connecting dietary supplement research to healthcare outcomes.

He has been writing about nutrition science and food science for over 10 years. After seven years in WR’s French offices, Stephen spent one year in WR’s New York office before moving to Chicago in 2013.
